Has MyHorryNews gone woke? Their liberal lawyer attacks Trump

MyHorryNews liberal News lawyer, Jay Bender, went on a tirade attacking Donald Trump as he officially retired this week.

His opinion piece in the State Newspaper titled “Why I stopped being a lawyer for the SC Broadcasters Association should concern you”

He tells the Columbia, S.C. audience, “I withdrew from this (my legal) representation on Jan. 31.”

The MyHorryNews legal council also writes, “Trump has repeatedly called for CBS to have its license revoked for an interview of his political opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, on the program “60 Minutes.” Trump has also called for all broadcast licenses to be sold to the highest bidder. Imagine who might own licenses under this plan. Following the presidential debate with Harris, Trump said ABC should lose its license. Trump even called for Comcast, the parent company of NBC and MSNBC, to be investigated for treason, and said if he were reelected the news media would “be thoroughly scrutinized” and “should pay a big price.”

He states, “A month before the inauguration, ABC paid $15 million toward Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation suit he had brought, one many thought ABC could successfully defend. Last month, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, which are not subject to the restrictions the First Amendment imposes on governments, paid $25 million to settle a suit Trump brought claiming that his rights had been violated when it suspended his accounts after the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection.”

Understanding the Impact of MyHorryNews on Local Politics Biased Reporting

MyrtleBeachSC News, a conservative news channel, contacted Bender several times for potential employment opportunities. One instance was in response to defamation issues related to liberal Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune. Another occasion was after our editor was sued individually by S.C. Rep. Bill Herbkersman.

He was always too busy to give our team the time of day.

Yet, when MyHorryNews was caught red-handed, releasing sealed court records to support Senator Luke Rankin’s re-election campaign, Bender was quick to accept the MyHorryNews defamation case against a conservative opponent.

Said Jay Bender about the case, “The general assembly passed this law in an attempt to dissuade people from filing frivolous lawsuits. It burdens the defendant and it burdens the court system. This lawsuit is a perfect example of a frivolous lawsuit.”

Bender failed to mention, that the elected leader, Senator Luke Rankin heads the Senate Judiciary, and serves on the JMSC. The JMSC screens and practically picks every Judge in SC.

MyHorryNews won round one of the defamation case. Luke Rankin’s former opponent, John Gallman, is currently appealing that ruling.
