TRUE names Steve Butler its CEO, Ari Gross CIO

TRUE, a provider of decisioning software for the mortgage industry, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Stephen “Steve” Butler as Chief Executive Officer and company founder Ari Gross as Chairman and Chief Innovation Officer.

Per a release from the company, the leadership changes were unanimously supported by TRUE’s Board of Directors and leadership team.

Butler’s tenure includes leadership roles at public and private companies across fintech and B2B SaaS, namely at GoDocs, Deeplite and AI Foundry. He confirmed the new role in a post on LinkedIn on Tuesday morning.

AI technology is evolving at a pace we’ve never seen before,” said Butler. “We’re entering a period where today’s innovations can become legacy in a year. Companies that can’t re-invent quickly and often will be left behind. Our structure moving forward reflects that urgency and gives us the ability to execute with speed, scale, and discipline.”

Gross’ leadership transition entails him focusing on advancing TRUE’s AI strategy and accelerating research and product initiatives, specifically, integrating the latest GenAI technology into the company’s intelligent automation solutions.

“This change allows me to focus fully on what I love – pushing the boundaries of what AI-based automation can do. From trusted, actionable data to real-time, instant decisioning, we’re solving the hardest problems in lending and doing it faster than ever,” said Gross. “With Steve’s vast experience and strong leadership as our new CEO, coupled with the company’s extensive background in AI and innovation, we’re well-positioned for success.”

Originally founded in 2017 as SoftWorks AI, TRUE rebranded in 2022 and is based in Forest Hills, New York.
