With the exception of the CCMF held last week, Ocean Boulevard shootings are becoming commonplace around 9th Avenue North.
One person was hospitalized and several are in custody after another overnight round of Ocean Boulevard shootings near the intersection of 9th Avenue N. and N. Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, police said.
Charged with third-degree assault and battery is Syire Arik McLeod, an 18-year-old from Oxford, North Carolina. Also facing charges is Chason Jalih Harris, 18, from the same town, charged with tampering with evidence.
Police stated that another individual is currently in custody and will have their name disclosed upon facing formal charges in this round of Ocean Boulevard shootings. Additionally, two minors have been charged in connection with the incident.
The Increasing Incidents of Ocean Boulevard Shootings
Police said it happened at about 11:55 p.m. Thursday when several shots were fired during an altercation. Police said there will be an increased law-enforcement presence in the area as the investigation continues.
The focus on 2025 Ocean Boulevard shootings began on April 26th when 11 people were sent to the hospital in a police officer involved incident where the juvenile who fired into a crowd was killed.
Several Ocean Boulevard shootings on successive weekends have happened since. Day trippers from towns approximately 100 miles in circumference to Myrtle Beach cause much of the violence in downtown on Ocean Boulevard.
Unsupervised teenagers ranging from 16 to 18 carry guns with them to the beach. Despite the pattern, Myrtle Beach police have yet to come up with a system for dealing with these unsupervised teens before the violence begins.
SC does not have truancy laws enabling MBPD to detain unsupervised juveniles until their parents retrieve them. Even when the identify potential violent teens, their hands are tied until the shootings start.
