The Saturday shooting happened in the vicinity of the Summer Sands Motel.
Tourists around the 1400 block of South Ocean Boulevard put out a call at 5:42 p.m., prompting the Myrtle Beach Police Department to send officers to the location.
A gunshot injury was reportedly sustained by one individual, who has been transported to the hospital.
Authorities have stated that there will be a continued heightened police presence in the vicinity while the investigation continues.
Officers ask that the public avoid the area and use alternate routes when possible.
