Marie Paul shares her story of leaving health care leadership to open Seniors Helping Seniors® in South Carolina, using a peer-to-peer model to provide meaningful in-home care.
As a longtime health care executive, I spent years optimizing revenue cycles for hospitals, helping medical organizations run efficiently. But over time, I realized I wanted to make a more personal impact. I wanted to serve my community in a way that felt meaningful — not just financially successful. That’s what led me to Seniors Helping Seniors®, an in-home care service that allows active seniors to provide companionship and assistance to their less-active counterparts.
In January 2025, I officially opened Seniors Helping Seniors® in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, serving Chesterfield, Kershaw, Darlington, Florence and Marlboro Counties. The need for quality in-home care is growing rapidly, and I knew this was the right time and place to step in. Many seniors wish to age in place, remaining in their homes and communities, but they need extra support to do so comfortably and safely. Our services provide everything from companionship to daily assistance, ensuring that seniors receive the help they need while maintaining their independence.
What makes our approach unique is our caregiver model. We hire active seniors — people who understand firsthand the challenges of aging — to provide care and companionship. This peer-to-peer approach creates a genuine bond between caregivers and clients, fostering relationships built on trust and shared experiences. It’s not just about providing services; it’s about building connections and creating a support system that enriches lives.
I am honored to bring this service to the Pee Dee region and to help redefine senior care in our community.
