There are 3 different distinct and individual branches of government, the Judicial, the Executive, and the Legislative. Highjacked government occurs when one of these branches seizes the constitutionally intended powers of another.
Understanding Highjacked Government and Its Impacts
DOGESC Founder Rom Reddy highlights the problems created when one branch of government highjacks the powers of another.
A clear national example is the US Judicial system working to operate as the executive.
Executive powers are the exclusive rights of the president, yet as of June 11, 2025, at least 184 rulings had at least temporarily paused some of the Trump administration’s initiatives.
Most of these cases will ultimately be won at the Supreme Court level, yet those appeals can take years, effectively running out the clock on the Trump Presidency.
In South Carolina, the Legislative Branch has highjacked the executive and the judicial since the late eighteen hundreds. Rom Reddy explains here what that looks like.
Reddy says that highjacked government diminishes the checks and balances set into the constitution. The DOGE SC founder says highjacked government also takes powers away from South Carolina residents.
One of the chief initiative of DOGE SC is to ensure that highjacked government does not occur in South Carolina and that each branch “stays in its constitutional lane”.
Highjacked government also happens when government created agencies make codes and laws not codified by the S.C General Assembly. These laws are then used by the Judicial to set precedent, where no real law exists.
These government created agencies include SC Department of Social Services, SC Department of Health, South Carolina Department of Environmental Services, Public Service Commission of South Carolina, South Carolina Department of Transportation, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, etc.
The DEEP STATE list of created agencies goes on and on, each working to grow their own powers by employing highjacked government whenever they can get away with it.
DOGESC Founder, Rom Reddy, says highjacked government is a dangerous cycle that we have to reverse.
