Gerri “Deana” Safrit, née McDaniel, age 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11th 2025.
Beloved wife to Tom Eugene Safrit for 43 years; Mother to Jeremy Tucker (Mary); Stepmother to
Charlotte Pratapas (Phil), Amanda Barker (Kevin); Grandmother to Christian Wolfe, Stephan Tucker,
Alexandria Pratapas, Olivia Pratapas, Kaitlyn Honeycutt; Sister to Kristy (Stan) Frazier, Johnny
Suggs (Sandra), Luann (the late Tony) Elliott, Kim Whitney; Daughter of the late Rufus and Hilda Suggs;
as well as her beloved dog, Tripp.
Gerri was raised in High Point, North Carolina.
After meeting Tom on the beaches of Clearwater, Florida and getting married, they went on to raise their family in Winston-Salem, North Carolina before settling in North Myrtle Beach where they have
resided for the past 22 years.
Gerri was a ‘Jill’ of many trades owning an embroidery business for many years, being an early adopter of technology, and most recently was a passionate member of the Horry County Republican Women’s Club.
Funeral service for Gerri McDaniel Safrit will be Thursday, January 16, 5:00 p.m. at Burroughs
Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy., Murrells Inlet South Carolina.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
She will be laid to rest, by her family, in Concord, North Carolina.
