Scott Spivey: An unhinged, violent history hidden by legacy media

The Wall Street Journal reports that in 2023 after hours of drinking, Scott Spivey left a bar and started driving home in his black pickup with his 45 caliber pistol. He was in no condition to drive.

Scott Spivey would minutes later riddle the front end of a North Myrtle Beach Businessman’s truck with bullets.

Return fire, which led to the death of Scott Spivey, a well known, unhinged, North Carolina man, has the legacy media in an uproar. Alcohol and steroids’ were clearly involved in Spivey’s conduct on the day he died.

The police and SLED have called the incidence self defense. Scott Spivey has a long running history of questionable behavior including multiple DUIs. possession charges and a criminal background.

A recording released by the Sun News showed Scott Spivey as the aggressor. Unbelievably, the headline read: ‘I had a good time’ North Myrtle Beach restaurant owner says of killing North Carolina man.

Doesn’t’ Horry County deserve better from local press?

Shooter Scott Spivey ran the restaurant owner off the road. Scott Spivey later proceeded to riddle the front end of the truck driven by the business owner with bullets. Scott Spivey clearly intended to kill this restaurant owner.

Now, the family of Scott Spivey hopes to win a lucrative civil lawsuit. Despite all known facts, the family is leveraging legacy media in an all out blitz to paint the business owner as the aggressor.

It is amazing that all pictures of Scott Spivey posted by legacy media show him smiling in a suit and tie. We have yet to see an actual picture of Spivey’s more common behavior as above.

Why is Barry Spivey, Horry County Administrator and Horry County Councilman Mark Causey inserting themselves into this investigation? Does interference into police matters by each raise questions about the role of the Horry County Police Department?

Horry County Councilman Mark Causey is a life long friend of Spivey.

Horry County Police Department needs a wall of separation to be viewed as having clean hands in this matter. In South Carolina, while every county has a sheriff’s department that provides law enforcement services, only Horry County has its own county police department.

With a past that includes actions by the likes of Veteran Horry County Police Detective Allen Large, perhaps the Horry County Police Department should be disbanded altogether.

Matters like these are handled by the Sherriff’s office in other jurisdictions.

The North Myrtle Beach restaurant owner appropriately responded about Scott Spivey on Facebook:

Enough is enough, with the lies, conspiracy of politicians, family court attorneys, the shooter’s attorneys and TikTokers who seek to profit from misinformation. I have remained compliant and silent throughout investigations and a civil suit motivated by money. I will not speak to any members of the press because experience teaches me that my words will be edited, twisted and taken out of context simply to sensationalize a story for clicks and profit. I will not seek to defend myself in social media, where the rules clearly are not objective and fair.

On Monday my attorneys and I will invite and welcome additional investigation by SLED, and any and all objective and fair-minded inquiry into the facts and events that transpired on the afternoon of September 09, 2023. My attorneys will also bring to SLED’s attention additional evidence that we have obtained.

From my initial call to 911 operators, throughout the investigation and to now Mr. Williams and I have been fully cooperative and transparent with law enforcement. We voluntarily gave investigators video recorded statements on the night after the incidents. These investigators were complete strangers to us. We voluntarily surrendered to SLED our cell phones, a tablet, and passwords promptly when requested, along with our consent to search the same.

There are no “secret recordings” that have come to light recently. All of our data was surrendered upon request in the very early stages of the investigation. To the tabloid plaintiff’s attorneys and bloggers, who are in this for money, I would say to you that there can be no cover up of a crime, when there was no crime. What you seek to do for profit is immoral.

The facts are that Mr. Williams and I were victims of an aggressive criminal, namely Scott Ryan Spivey. He terrorized many motorists that day and fired upon Mr. Williams and me. Mr. Spivey was a complete stranger to both Mr. Williams and me. Both arrogance and ignorance of facts are demonstrated in the numerous articles, blogs and comments.

Our first encounter with Mr. Spivey was when he had a gun pointed at Mr. Williams’ head. Since the incident we have learned that Mr. Spivey was drunk, drugged, and altered. He was engaged in very dangerous and reckless conduct in which he terrorized many men and women, both young and old. Mr. Spivey’s family and their attorneys are also aware of these facts.

They are aware that Mr. Scott Spivey had a history of abusing alcohol and drugs, and of violent outbursts. It is apparent that Mr. Spivey’s family enabled him in in life and now seek to revise history. Clearly you do not honor Mr. Spivey’s life by forcing Mr. Williams and me to defend with facts that you already know.

I have not read any of the known facts concerning Mr. Spivey’s past in any media. Why? I presume that facts don’t sell clicks. Frustratingly, there are also numerous elected and appointed officials in Horry County that are motivated and acting to cause harm to me in whatever manner that they can.

This is no secret and frankly has been admitted by some and demonstrated by many. I have been very outspoken and critical of numerous of our public officials. For this, numerous elected and appointed officials have sought to interfere with the investigation.

A more constructive inquiry of the public officials is – why in the heck did it take so long to get officers to one of the busiest traffic corridors in Horry County. There were numerous calls from motorists that were terrorized by his (Scott Spivey) driving and his pointing of a gun.

The delay in response time is alarming. To be clear, I do not mean to insinuate that the officers, whose names I don’t even know, were not doing their jobs or that they did not respond as fast as they could. I do not have criticism of the officers. But the question for the public officials that now want to deflect this media attention – why are you not providing more resources to your police officers?

It is inexcusable that it took so long for officers to intervene. Clearly, the officers that we have cannot be everywhere at once. But you public officials have failed us by not providing more officers. South Carolina Highway 9 is one of the busiest traffic corridors in Horry County! Perhaps the presence of law enforcement would have facilitated a different outcome. Self-reflect and do better!

Again, we encourage, welcome and will cooperate with any reopened or renewed objective investigation of the events of September 09, 2023, as we have fully cooperated at all times.
